Horoscope Today: Should I Believe it or Not?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

A week ago when read my daily horoscope it said that, “Your decisions today will change your life”, I wonder what does it mean. What decisions my horoscope is talking about. I just had an ordinary life that day, nothing specials, nothing big decisions I need to make. This is one instance that you’ve been questioning yourself if you should or shouldn’t believe in astrology readings.

What is horoscope anyways?

A Horoscope is a person’s Birth Chart or the Natal Chart. It is a figurative analysis of the positions of all the planets in the zodiac, for a specific place, and for an exact time and date. This means, that any person’s horoscope, is based on the planetary positions according to their place of birth, date of birth, as well as the precise time of birth.

A horoscope is usually in the form of a table, the format of which can differ from country to country as well as from culture to culture. But whatever forms your horoscope takes, one thing is common to all horoscopes, and that is that it is based on your place, date, and time of birth. With this description it was clearly stated that horoscope reading is based on each person’s place, date and time of birth. Meaning, how in a million chances you could have the same categories with other person? Yes, maybe you were both having the same place or same date, but not the same place, date and time. Perhaps I could be wrong; maybe there is someone out there who is apparently same exact date of birth with you. Maybe that person is the one who needs to make a decision according to both of your horoscope.

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Chinese culture is very intact to every one of them. Their culture is very rich in a way that almost every country near them has been influenced as well. Chinese have lot of superstitions, for example if their New Year comes near. Each families spend their time cleaning their houses because they believe that it will take away bad luck for the coming new year. And on the holiday eve buying a pair of shoes is considered bad luck. According to them the word “shoes” is a homophone for the word “rough” in Cantonese. Eating candy, on the other hand, brings good luck in a way that their coming year will become sweet.

Chinese New Year celebrates in every joyous way possible, from the dramatic fireworks to the creativity of dragon dance. This is the highlight of the occasion in every Chinatown around the world. Every year, Chinese spend lavishly on performance arts in the hopes of bringing good luck and prosperity.

Come to think of it, even if a person doesn’t have Chinese blood, when you ask them if they believe in Chinese horoscopes, I strongly trust that the answer will be a big yes. Why? Because, deep inside in people’s soul whether they accept it or not they somehow admit it when it comes to superstitions, astrology, feng shui and others belief that passes through ages.

Medical Astrology

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Medical astrology has been around for ages. It is traditionally known as lathromathematics. This is actually a branch of astrology that studies how the movement and position of celestial bodies could affect one’s health.

It does not intend to replace the diagnosis of a medical professional. It is, at best, a form of alternative therapy. It is a good preventive measure and can complement traditional medicine. With this art, various parts of the body, diseases and drugs are said to be influenced by the sun, the moon and the planets along with the twelve astrological signs. Hence, the sun is related to one’s general vitality as well as the heart and the spine. Other planets that are related to body

Using Astrology to Understand Your Past Life

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Astrology works in such mysterious ways that it had once been considered a science. It is believed that the exact position of the heavenly bodies with respect to your birth date, birth time and location can result in a comprehensive analysis of one’s life. The position of the planets in the zodiacs and their aspect to each other translates into one’s personal natal chart.

The natal chart goes beyond finding your life themes, your destiny and even your future. While most believe that it is divinatory in nature, a person’s natal chart can actually be used to understand one’s past life as well.

Past life experiences are said to carry over to our present lives which manifests as intriguing interests, habits and phobias that cannot be explained by conventional methods.

In using astronomy to determine one’s past life, the reader can look at where the planet lies to uncover the hidden self. For instance, the Twelfth House represents the subconscious process where we carry karmic memories. Planets that fall in one’s twelfth house are often associated with certain characteristics that can help them better understand their past. Taking the example further, having Virgo in the 12 House cusp results in a person who is highly detail-oriented which in turn could mean connecting one’s past occupation to either an accountant, a statistician, a librarian or something in the same league.

The History of Horoscopes

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Horoscope comes from the Latin horoscopus, which is in turn derived from the Greek ὡρόσκοπος (horoskopos). This is translated as “observer of the hour”. In the early 11th Century, the Latin word was still widely used to refer to this practice of charting the stars. It was only during the Early Moderhttp://www.psychicguild.com/horoscopes.phpn English era that the anglicized horoscopes was used.

In essence, a horoscope is a map of the heavens during a particular period in time. It is also called an astrological chart, a celestial map, a sky map, a star chart, a cosmogram, a vitasphere, a radical chart, a radix or a chart wheel.

While the exact history of horoscopes is unknown, the methodology behind it – astrology – has been around for ages. Astrological doctrines have been found dating as far back as the Babylonian era. They developed a system of omens around the 2nd millennium BCE. Horoscopic astrology began during Alexandrian conquests around 1st Century BCE. This is when early Babylonian astrology mixed with Egyptian traditions. It spread from Alexandrian Egypt to the ancient world into Europe, Middle East and India.

As the centuries progressed, astrology’s more scientific counterpart astronomy became the center of attention. Astrology faded in the background as a shadow of a new science. During the 11th Century, Persian astronomer Abū Rayhān al-Bīrūnī was among the first to clearly differentiate the semantics of astronomy and astrology.

Synastry: Determining Your Astrological Compatibility

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Horoscopes are generally appreciated for its ability to give you a daily look into your destiny. However, it is also widely used for determining compatibility. Certain zodiacs are said to be more compatible with some than other. This branch of astrology is called synastry. It studies the relationships by comparing natal horoscopes.

The natal horoscope is an astrological chart that maps out the location of celestial bodies at a certain time – usually the exact time and date of a person’s birth. This is said to describe energies as influenced by the planets.

For instance, Venus is often associated with romantic love, affection and attraction. Mars, on the other hand, is more in tune with passion and sexuality. In earlier Western astrological horoscopes, these kinds of love can determine compatibility. There are several major types: Eros is passionate love, Philia is mutual appreciation, Agape is love for God or unconditional love.

In synastry, horoscopes are used to ascertain each partner’s love needs and abilities based on the patterns of the astrological charts. Horoscopic aspects tell of areas of compatibility and incompatibility between the couple.

Benefits of Horoscopes

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

In the olden days, astrology was considered more of a science than an art. The reading of constellations and celestial bodies and their positions relative to each other is said to provide information about personalities and events.

It played an important role in the shaping of early cultures. In fact, much of what we know of modern day astronomy has strong basis on astrology. Astronomy was practiced to heed the desire for predictive or divinatory knowledge. The separation between the two only became apparent in the Renaissance period.

Today, one of the most popular uses of astrology is the generation of horoscopes. And it comes in many shapes and sizes. You can get a personal horoscope or an astrology chart customized for your exact date and time of birth. You can get a horoscope based on your zodiac sign – and even with this, there’s the Western version and the Eastern version. Medium is another differentiating factor for horoscopes, these are available as email horoscopes, phone horoscope or as displayed daily on websites.

Astrology: Precession of the Equinoxes

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Precession refers to a gravity-induced change in an astronomical body’s rotational axis or orbital path. It is often slow, happening over several millennia, but continuous. For Earth, the precession is caused by the gravitational pull of the sun, the moon and to a lesser extent, other celestial bodies.

The precession of the Earth is estimated to happen over a period of 26,000 years. This movement accounts for the astrological ages. It is also called precession of the equinoxes, because the equinoxes are said to move westward along the ecliptic. The slight change is said to be relative to the fixed stars and opposite the motion of the sun.

The precession of the equinoxes also accounts for the difference between sidereal astrology and tropical astrology. Sidereal astrology is patterned after the actual constellations upon which the zodiac signs are based. Tropical astrology uses the tropics as the main point of reference. The precession of the equinoxes is said to result in a shift between the two systems by about one degree every 70 years.
