Animal Rights Group in Germany Gets More Concerned over Psychic Animals
Lately, there have been many psychic animals that have been put in the limelight. Beginning with Paul the Octopus, there have been more and more animals that are used to predict the football team that will win in world games.
The Tierschutzbund group of Germany are concerned that during the entirety of the tournament, such psychic animals have been overused. This is considering that they are being televised and put on radio programs regarding their predictions of the games.
“These days, everybody who has an animal seems to put it in front of a camera. Every station has its own animal,” said Marius Tunte of Tierschutzbund. Additionally, the group also expresses that the dignity of the animals are being threatened in such activities.
A python called Ado was also featured on a radio program wherein he was offered the choice of two rats representing Germany (with stripes) and Denmark (without stripes).
According to the animal activist group, these animals are being threatened or inflicted suffering just so people will enjoy.
Some other animals that have been used as psychics include Emma the pig, Ferret and Mormel the Otters, and Traudl the goat.
The original psychic, Paul the Octopus, died at age 2. This happened after an entire summer of working on the World Cup 2010 circuit.
According to skeptics, betting on such psychic animals is just the same as betting on pure instinct. This means that these psychics are no better than just engaging in any ordinary bet.
