Boy married to a dog to ward off evil fate
Orissa, India – Sangula family’s one-and-a-half year old boy, have been married with Kaloti, a bitch-dog, in front of 200 tribals in a grand wedding ceremony at Patrapur village under Sukinda block in Jajpur district, Kendrapara, Orissa to negate his fate of being attacked by a tiger.
The tribals believe that once a tooth appeared in the upper gum at this period, he might be killed by a tiger in the future. And as a contradicting measure of such evil fate, the tribal elders told the Sangula family to marry him off to a bitch to save his life.
Amid the peculiar match, a traditional and gay nuptial ceremony was held and solemnized in a village temple. The bride was adorned with two silver rings and a silver chain along with an earthen pot as dowry.
The child’s father Sanrumula Munda, however, maintained that the marriage would not prevent him from marrying when he came of age.
