Mother of Moors Victim Turns to Psychic
The 45-year search for Keith Bennett, a victim of the Moors murders, is now in the hands of a psychic. The boy’s mother Winnie Johnson has been searching for his son’s grave for nearly half a century. She has is being accompanied by a renowned spirit medium as she travels to Saddleworth Moor.
“My search for my son has taken the best part of my life away from me,” says Johnson. “If there is one person on this earth who can help me then I am prepared to meet them. I will try anything.”
Keith was 12 years old when he went missing on June 16, 1964. Ian Brady and Myra Hindley confessed to the boy’s murder 20 year after his disappearance.
Hindley died in 2002. Brady, now 71, is being held in Ashworth secure mental hospital on Merseyside. He was jailed for life with Hindley in 1966 for the murders of Lesley Ann Downey, ten, Edward Evans, 17, and John Kilbride, 12. The couple later admitted to the murder of Pauline Reade, 16, and Keith Bennet but never faced trial for the murders.
It is believed that Keith is buried with the other victims along the moor of Oldham, Lancashire.
The 75-year old Johnson says: “I’d just love to give him that funeral and to stand there with a microphone in front of all the mourners and tell them, ‘Thanks, I am Keith’s mother and I have got him back at last’.
