Washington DC – Pamela J. Butler has been missing for 52 days. The 47-year-old program analyst works for the Environmental Protection Agency. The security camera in her home last recorded her on February 12, 2009 at 9:30pm. She was seen entering her house with her boyfriend. About an hour later, the boyfriend left alone. No one has report seeing her since.

Investigators have interviewed the 46-year-old Alexandria man whose identity has not been released. Although there has been no indication of foul play, police are tagging the case as a critical missing persons case. Cmdr. Rodney Parks, who supervises the criminal investigations branch, says that “There is cause for concern — her being missing is highly unusual for her pattern of behavior.” Butler is known to keep a routine.
Yesterday, more than a dozen family and friends banded together at Butler’s house in the 5800 block of Fourth Street. They trampled through damp earth and tangled branches of Fort Slocum Park on the advice of a psychic.
“I just want some closure,” said Selma Butler, Pamela’s mother. “It’s hard, but I’m just hoping that something is going to give this time.”
The family consulted a psychic on the advice of Keith Jarrell, a neighborhood activist. Although Jarrell did not personally know Butler, he says that he empathizes with the family. Decades ago, his own father went missing and was found robbed and so badly beaten that he suffered permanent brain damage.

The psychic suggested that the search be focused on Fort Slocum Park. The group was asked to look for a blue container and a black trash bag. After 15 minutes of scouring Fort Slocum Park, the group found a set of bones. Police later determined that it was not human.
