The Case of the Psychic Nurse
No arrest has been made even a year after a nurse from Colorado Springs and Memorial Hospital had been publicly accused by hospital officials for being a self-proclaimed psychic nurse who allegedly accessed patient records illegally.
Lori Niell maintains that she is indeed innocent and that she has not been given the chance to defend herself in court. Until now, she could not land a nursing job because people have been influenced by media reports on the allegations made against her.
“I’m out of money, my reputation has been trashed… I’m at the end of my rope,” she said. “I would like to be charged or not charged so I can move on with my life,” said Niell.
According to accounts, Niell was accused by city and hospital officials for allegedly accessing patient records illegally through the Physician Link patient database of the hospital. Though the nurse had been with them for 8 years, she had no work-related reason that would justify her illegal actions. Though she resigned from work, she claims that she was told she would be fired unless she voluntarily left.
According to Niell, she sees that the officials think the reason for her accessing the records was to use it to convince patients that she is indeed a psychic. However, for her, she was being targeted because the officials did not feel comfortable around her especially with her intuitive abilities.
As of the moment, Niell has no idea as to the status of her case even after she had repeatedly called the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office who is handling her case. She got this information from a Colorado Springs police. However, a spokesperson of the DA said they never received the case.
This even makes Niell believe all the more that there is no case since the police did not find any evidence against her.
