Wisconsin Summer Camp Fosters Spiritualism
A camp in Wonewoc, central Wisconsin holds Fridany night séances to help the living communicate with the dead. For more than a hundred years, seers and seekers have gathered at this wooded enclave to commune with those who have passed this world. Today, the Wonewoc Spiritualist Camp continues to help foster the spiritualist movement.
“It’s all about helping people,” said Judith Ulch, a sixth-generation medium who runs the summer camp for the New York-based National Spiritualist Association of Churches.
Mediums and psychics come to the camp to connect with angels, spirit guides and deceased loved ones and offer a more enlightened perspective to others. The camp offers personal readings for $40 and séances for $25.
Most weekend schedules include Friday night séances, past-life regressions on Saturdays and church service on Sundays. The 37-acre camp is now a monument to the history of spiritualism. In its prime, it bought hundreds of visitors seeking connections to the other world.
