Zodiac Sign to Determine Employment in Austria
Statistical studies were made by a Salzburg company in Austria and found out that the best employees belong to one of the five astrological signs. The study led to the company restricting its job openings to applicants born under the required zodiac signs.
Equality groups were against the ads and claims that they were discriminatory while the company insisted that their methods were scientific otherwise. With the protest, the Austrian government has determined that the ads did not violate any anti discriminatory law.
“Limitation is not discrimination”, says the spokeswoman for the employee’s association of Salzburg as prospective applicants born the required zodiac signs Capricorn, Taurus, Aquarius, Aries or Leo, could be of any age, race or gender.
If the case is taken to the European Court of Justice and rules in favor of the company, the use of zodiac as qualification for employment may spread as speculated by a UPI article.
