Astrological Symbols: Angles, Aspects and Nodes

Aside from the Zodiac sign symbols and the planetary symbols found on an astrological chart, there are also other miscellaneous important symbols. Angles are also represented by glyphs. The following are some common types of symbols you’ll find for angles, aspects and nodes:

Angles:

Ascendant - This is the angle rising over the eastern horizon at a particular moment in time. It is also known as the rising sun.

Midheaven - This is the angel where the ecliptic crosses the Meridian in the south on the northern hemisphere. It is also called medium coeli or zenith.

Nodes:

Nodes are not common to all traditions of astrology, but they are important in Vedic astrology. There are basically two types of nodes, the ascending node and the descending node. They are referred to as the Dragon’s Head or Tail or simply nodal axis, lunar nodes or the moon’s nodes.

Similar to astrological symbols used to denote celestial bodies, the zodiac also have their representative glyphs. You will often see this in astrological sign charts . They are even used to simplify the representations of your daily horoscope.

Gemini
*Twins
*Pillars of knowledge or the Roman numeral representing the number 2

Astrological Symbols: Celestial Bodies

Various astrological sign systems use symbols, also known as glyphs, to represent relevant objects. There are four common elements found in most glyphs representing celestial bodies, and they are:

The circle – stands for spirit
The crescent – represents the mind
The cross – denotes practical or physical matter
The arrow – which means action or direction

They are combined to create glyphs of the sun, the moon and the planets.
