In this article you will learn one type of Tarot card reading, which is the Question reading. Question reading on tarot card is something that you ask for yourself and personally. Being specific on asking stuff are more likely necessary upon Question reading. The tarot card reader will not just answer yes or no questions as she will give you the specific answers as such.
Your question should be focused, but not overly detailed. Examples ask how can you balance your work and friends, but do not go too far like telling your work time and when you we’re with your friends. Only include the minimum level of detail needed in order to express what you want to learn from the cards.
Focus on yourself if the reading is for yourself; make sure your question focuses on you rather than on someone else who you think may be the root of your problem in life.
Do not take sides, in order to stay open to other points of view, your question has to be neutral and not express a defined idea that your vision is automatically the right one. The cards can give you assistance and help if you ask for it.

While today’s tarot readings are usually done off the more popular decks such as the Rider-Waite, few know of its history. The earliest decks were actually hand-painted and were of limited availability. Only during the advent of the printing press did it become more accessible to the public.
One of those that survived the test of time came from the French city of Marseille. The Tarot de Marseille is a standard pattern of design form which may of today’s decks are derived.
The name of the pattern was coined only in 1889 by Gerard Encausse in his book le Tarot des bohemiens. It was popularized by the Paul Marteau, who used the name to refer to designs produced in the city of Marseille.

It is not uncommon to find reversed cards when spreading during a tarot reading. There is a way to avoid or encourage reversed cards when shuffling. To avoid it, start by fixing the cards so they all face the same direction. Be mindful of this direction before dividing your deck to shuffle.
If, on the other hand, you would want to introduce reversed cards, divide the deck before the shuffle and rotate one of the piles upside-down (180 degrees). You can also use the scrambling method. Shuffling them around in different directions can result in reversed cards.
Interpreting reversed cards is often reserved for the more advanced tarot readers. Some tarot readers interpret it as the opposite of the upright card. Some readers take a more complicated approach and base the meaning on the surrounding cards. Other readers take the reversed card as a more intense variation of the upright counterpart.

You might have heard about tarot card being used for game play? Yes, it’s not uncommon. But their more popular use is for divination or a tarot reading. It can be used to foretell an event, help you decide on something important, or uncover some past events that influence your life.
When going for a tarot reading, there are some terms you need to learn:
Reader – This is the person with the cards, the one interpreting them for you.
Querent – Well, basically, this is you. The person inquiring from the cards
Spread – How the cards are laid out on the table
Significator – The card that represents the question being asked or the querent
Before a reading begins, you may be asked to shuffle the deck. This is believed to be a good way to influence the cards with your touch. You should concentrate on your question (if you have one), while doing this. If you are getting an online tarot reading, it may work in a different way. Though you are not able to touch the cards physically, there can be graphical representations of them. Some online tarot readers may simply ask you to concentrate on your question while they do the shuffling for you.

Tarot readers follow a different variety of patterns for laying out their tarot cards. This is called a spread. Generally, each position in the spread is assigned a number, and cards are turned over in certain sequence.
The following are common ways to spread the cards for tarot reading:
1.Celtic Cross – Is the most common spread used and sheds light on many aspects of life. Ten cards are used with five arranged in a cross and four placed vertically beside it. Another card is placed horizontally across the center cards.
2.Astrological spread – Uses 12 cards in a circle similar to the twelve signs of the zodiac. A 13th card is placed in the middle.
3.Single card – Even just 1 card can be considered a spread.
4.3-card spread – One card represents the past, the second the present and the third is for the future.
5.Horseshoe spread – Seven cards are arranged into a U shape. Card 1 represents the past. Card 2 is for the present. Card 3 stands for influences. Card 4 for obstacles. Card 5 for expectations. Card 6 shows the best course of action. Card 7 represents the likely outcomes.
6.Tetractys – Ten cards arranged as a pyramid with four rows. Each row represents an element: earth, water, fire and air. This is based on the Pythagorean mathematics and the Platonist thought.
7.The Mirror spread – works for relationships.
8.Mandala Spread – To explore the spiritual side of the user, mostly for introspection.
9.Star spread – Follows a star pattern starting from the lower left part. The first card represents what is seen. The second, what can’t be seen. The third card represents those you can change. The fourth card what can’t be changed. The final card is for what you can expect in the future.
There are several other popular spreads and some tarot readers customize the way they layout and read the cards. Your tarot reading should be enhanced if you concentrate on your questions and work with your tarot reader.
